There’s a reason you found this site.
We’ve been helping Christian songwriters grow and thrive for over 25 years. Our number one goal is helping Christian songwriters get better, get published, and get heard.
What does Getting Published Even Mean?
Probably less than you think. Here are a few ways you can “get published” as a songwriter.
Sign a single song publishing deal with a publisher. Yay, you’re published. But what does this really mean? On a call recently, I was told by a Dove and multiple BMI Award Winning songwriter that he has over 1200 songs published…that nothing ever happened with. Sure, he can say he has all those songs published, and if you had a song picked up by a publisher you could say you are published.
If nothing ever happens with your song, is that a good thing? If a song sits in a library on a computer hard drive, does it make a sound?
Record your song and get it on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc. Join a Performing Rights organization like BMI or ASCAP and list your song with them. Submit it to CCLI. Yay, your published. But if no one ever downloads, streams, or performs your song in church, you won’t see any money.
These are both valid ways to become published. But as you can see, if no work is done by you or someone else (like a publisher, or artist who sings your songs) then the only thing you get to say is…Yay, I’m Published.
Our goals have always been to help songwriters get better, and sure, get published in some way. We want to continue to do this. We also want to help people get their songs heard and played.
Income from royalties in the new music business isn’t what it was. “This ain’t 1990”, as the same songwriter told me. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have a meaningful career writing songs, raising your songwriting acumen, and building a following for your music.
If this resonates with you, we are looking to build a whole new type of publishing company, specifically for Christian songwriters. We are looking for good songwriters who want to be great, and great songwriters ready to get to work and write with other great songwriters.
This is not a competition, this is a movement.
We hope you’ll join us.
